A Duel of Hearts

When I look at my younger, sixteen year old self,
All I can see is a girl in such a hurry
Into so much she is willing to delve
And not waiting a second more, on she scurries.

Knowing not how the future unfolded
She goes peeking through all doors that come
But there was one that got shut and welded,
Before she could turn around and go back home.

There, she sees a young boy
That initially she doesn't know
Feeling all shy and coy,
She looks at him, bashfully so.

One talk leads to another
And sooner rather than later they kiss
She goes into it thinking it is a one time affair,
Knowing not what a duel of hearts this is.

For a girl, even just the first kiss is always a memorable one
But this turned out to be so much more than that
For it held equal parts mystery and passion,
And maybe it was that curiosity that killed this cat.
